Hi,
quick questions, if I uncheck all categories on the map is it supposed to see – still – all places, exactly the same as all categories are checked?
I am running Version 4.9.4, GeoDirectory plugin Version 1.6.25, GeoDirectory Location Manager plugin Version 1.5.62, Supreme Directory Theme (Theme Directory StarterVersion: 1.1.5)
Thanks

That doesn’t sound right. Please share the URL of the site in question so we can take a better look at it and also WP temp admin access to your site. You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

Only the category “As1” is showing for me. That means the rest are hidden, as per your settings, yes?

I see now! Yes, I am not sure I could have explained it any better than you did, and thanks for your patience. So, the login credentials do not seem to work. Please test them and repost known good credentials and we will take a look.
Have you tried this with the Google api yet?
It should behave as shown here: https://wpgeo.directory/gdf-modern/
March 22, 2018 at 7:26 am #422685Hi,
thanks for looking into this. with Google API is same behaviour.
in fact at https://wpgeo.directory/gdf-modern/ the behaviour is exactly the one I mentioned. On the map, at Places post type, uncheck all categories… you will see all posts appearing on the map. This is very confusing for users IMHO but seems to be the default behaviour. I would strongly suggest at least adding an optional feature to remove all posts from the map when all categories are unchecked.
there is not need to re-enable the credentials as you can check same on your site.
thanks
March 22, 2018 at 7:35 am #422688Hi,
I like the function as it is and also analysing click headmaps I don’t see that users typically has problems with the function.
The scenario for me is that the user just like to see one category on the map (standard is all categories). This can now be done with one click on a category.
In your scenario additional check boxes would be needed with “select all” “unselect all” etc.My proposal here is to stay with what we have, but I’m always open for other opinions.
Best,
DirkMarch 22, 2018 at 7:58 am #422698I see your point Dirk. I suppose the category selector on the map works as a filter.
This is a subtle usability scenario.
If by default all categories appear unchecked in the categories selector (with all posts from all categories shown on the map) and you gradually start checking/filtering categories… it makes sense. Exactly the behaviour seen for instance on ebay.
If you come by default with all checked/selected and then gradually deselect them all… suddenly you get all posts on the map. For me is very confusing (not a showstopper) but obviously open to opinions 🙂thanks

I can understand your point. UX discussions are always funny for me as there is no real solution for it 😉
Best regards,
