We are migrating an existing directory over. Existing listings have different expiry dates based on previous set up dates. how do we put a new listing in with a unique future expiry date?

Hello, if you are using a CSV to import the listings, you can add a new column called “alive_days”, and in it you can set the number of the days the listing will be in that package (previously created) before expiring.

Also, expiry dates can be edited individually for each listing in the backend edit listing form.

    Thanks

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. Ok so what we have is we are migrating from a custom site that is not in a CMS, so we’ll be adding each of these listings manually. Previously the client could not manage their listings, but now with this new set up they will. So i want to make sure we are going about this the right way, or if you have a better way, please let me know.

The plan is to add each new listing from the back end and use the client email as the email for the listing (deactivating email notifications for the time being). And to adjust the expiration date to match the date of their current listing on the live site.

    Sound good?

    Thanks

You need to create a new user for every client, and assign the listing to that client. The “listing email” only allows a visitor to contact the business, but to allow editing by the client, they need to be assigned as user.

Can I create a user from back end, then add a new listing and assign to that user from the back end or should all this happen in front end as though we were the user?

    Both options will work.
You might need to temporarily assign an author role to the user so he shows up in the user list on the listing page in the backend.
