I want to stop having this issue when an update happens I lose my translation files, can you please send me the code for the wp-config.php file to use, my wp-config.php is missing the define language line, and I don’t write php if (there’s such a thing)

    Have a look here
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/category/translation/

You need to save your MO files in the correct locations, or they will be overwritten when updating.
This has nothing to do with the config file, see step 5 at http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/translate-core/
Since WordPress 4, the language is set at Wp admin > general

Guust, that’t the way I have it set up, but for some reason it changed. Did we do a core update? my path is correct.
    encuentramaz.com/wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-es_MX.mo

And I have my admin set up to spanish mexico…
    any thoughts?

    What changed exactly?
Were your MO files deleted from that languages folder?
That’s not possible as a result of a GD update.
Or did some particular language strings no longer translate, while others did? That might be a result of a mistake in the update somewhere.

I’m not sure, cause as soon as I saw it in english I went to change to spanish and when I did the correct mo would not populate in spanish, and I just went ahead and changed it to the point where I could not tell you exactly if it was just a string, but it did look wierd.
So did you check my previous reply? are those the correct settings….

    Yes that path is correct.
    Reverted to English?
Do you mean that geodirectory-es_MX.mo changed to geodirectory-en_US.mo or that geodirectory-es_MX.mo was empty?
If geodirectory-es_MX.mo is empty, then English will be used from the plugin file instead of from your languages folder.
