I am wondering after I upload my initial files (spreadsheets) to GD and need to update them because say I have added fields or refined fields etc – how does GD handle this? Does it overwrite my old stuff or does it duplicate entries? Will it mess up user review/comments?

    Thanks
    Stacey

Hello Stacey, it will duplicate the entries.

Yikes! Is there anyway to keep this from happening? I do have all the paid add-ons (duplicated listing alert). If not what is the best way to go about this do you think?

I’m afraid but you should manually edit this via wordpress backend or via phpmyadmin, editing the geodir_place_details (or any post type you have created, e.g. geodir_restaurants_details if restaurants) and then editing the column for each field (these are self explanatory such as post_title, post_address etc..)

OK. Can I ask what is the purpose/function of the Duplicate Alert Addon?? I originally thought it would have something to do with this issue, but obviously I am wrong about that.

For some unknown reasons, I had the duplicate alert plugin disabled when testing, now I have enabled it but it’s the same: when uploading a CSV with same entries, it will duplicate the entries. To be honest, I ran different tests, even adding the entry manually (with the duplicated alert set to notify me if the title is duplicated) but i didn’t receive any notification about the duplicated listing. I will notify Paolo, he might address what’s wrong.

    Hi,

Ajax duplicate alert is only working on the add listing form to prevent visitors to add duplicates.

It doesn’t perform any check on the CSV file uploaded and the CSV upload is meant to add new listings only, not to edit them.

    Thanks
