    Sirs,

I’ve spent a few hours trying to get my spreadsheet in tip top shape. After uploading the file I got the common “item(s) could not be added due to blank/invalid address(city, region, country, latitude, longitude)” message.

Realized I did not have the multilocation addon activated. After activating, I got the same message. Thought it might be that I have city and state in the address field (haven’t fixed that yet).

Went back to check my spreadsheet and saw that the Post Content column was broken into multiple cells where there were commas.

Before I go fix all of this by hand, I’d like to understand what I am doing wrong. I am using Open Office and my delimiters are set to :

    Field Delimiter ,
    Text Delimiter ”

    Thanks for any help.

The CSV is tab limited, not comma limited.
You have post_ids, that only works if you want to over-write listings, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/#import

Thanks for the response. A quick follow up question, though. I’m kind of new to Open Office.

My process was this. I created a dev site on a subfolder. I transferred listings from Geotheme using the guide. After the import, I exported the listings through Geodirectory (csv). I opened using Open OFfice.

The options when I open have tab and csv delimiters clicked. If I uncheck the tab option, all fields go into one column and have small arrows separating what would have been the individual cells.

When I save the file and check the edit filters setting, I see no option to remove tab delimiters.

So my question is how do I save this file as comma limited and not tab limited?

    Guust,

That worked, thanks. However, I screwed up a little more.

I got the csv in an acceptable format, straightened all of the cells out, saved in comma limited format, removed post id’s and imported.

Now I have duplicate place listings (removing the post id’s made GD create a new listing for each). Totally my mistake.

My next question would be, what is the easiest method to remove duplicates? Should I try this through PhpMyadmin? I’m fairly familiar with that. My biggest concern would be the URLs. The URLs for he “new” listings have a ‘2’ added to the end. I do not want that in the URL if I can help it.

    I apologize for my ignorance.

Simplest is to mass delete from the admin backend.
Filter by date, and bulk delete.
You can set the number of listings to show per page to 200 or so in the screen options up the top.
