Hello, I want each place in the directory to be maintained by the business owners themselves and pay for upgrades. I’m not sure which user role does that and how do I restrict the user only to their own listings?

    GD: 1.1.5
    WP: 3.9.1

    Hi,

only the person who added the listing or a business owner who claimed a listing entered by someone else can edit or upgrade a listing.

    It already works like that…

Now you are seeing the edit link in all listings, because you are the admin and you can edit everything…

I added all the listings in and will have people claim them and upgrade. I’m not seeing how they do it. I made a test user to try it and cannot get anywhere with it. I also don’t know what user role to assign them.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

new users are subscribers by default on WordPress.

Did you activate and setup Claim Listing addon?

once you do, you will see a link “Business Owner?” in the sidebar of each listing.
    (see image)

If clicked it will allow a user to send you a notification about the claim. If you approve it (or it is autoapproved), the listing becomes owner verified and the user who claimed the listing will be able to edit it or upgrade it.

If you think you did all this, send us the link and wp admin credentials in a private reply and we will check your settings.

    Thx

    Hi,

All your addons needs updating. That will start making things better.

But the biggest problem is another one, even though I’m logged in as admin, in the front end it doesn’t sees me as logged in.

The login dashboard still asks for Username and Password.

    Did you notice that?

I think that’s do to a domain problem in the cookie wordpress uses to see if a user is logged in or not. Dashboard and front end are showing totally different domains.

But that’s just an assumption. You should ask your Server admin why that is happening…

Ok, I made those changes, however, when I try to claim a listing, I do not get an email and neither does the business owner. Please help!!

    Hi Rebecca,

did you notice that also new user registration doesn’t send any email?

I think you are struggling more with the server (strange configuration IMHO) than with GeoDirectory…
