I was wondering if it was possible to add a checkbox on the “sign up now” portion of the user registration page, that would allow new users to sign up for a newsletter? I really like how clean the page is now and really don’t want to redirect to another page if I don’t have to.

Sorry, we do not have such option out of the box and that would require customization, unfortunately.
