Using GD On Subdomain Names with Wildcard SSL

    Hi,

    We have a wildcard SSL setup on our site which gives us the ability to create subdomain names and have them included in the SSL security.

    We were thinking of an alternative marketing strategy to expand our site’s services / offerings and wanted to find out if it is possible for us to use the same copy of GD to setup subdomain name sites for niche markets?

    For example: currently we have ShopRVA.com setup as our main site using GD. We were also considering setting up Cars.ShopRVA.com and Homes.ShopRVA.com and Apartments.ShopRVA.com etc. etc.

    Can we use the same copy of GD that we currently have setup on ShopRVA.com to create these other subdomain name sites?

    Please explain.

    I’m not sure I understand what you mean by :

    With 1 GeoDirectory license you can create as many website as you want. If your question is, can I clone the original website to create the other, the answer is yes. That’s like moving WP to another domain, the procedure will be identical.

    Hi Paolo,

    So what I’m trying to find out is this…

    We want to take advantage of our name ShopRVA.com and the Wildcard SSL that we have in place to create directory sites for Cars, Homes, Lawyers etc. separate from the ShopRVA.com website but still utilizing the .ShopRVA.com domain name extension and we want to do this all under the same GD license.

    So for example we may have as many as 5 to 10 different directory websites setup (each one specializing in it’s own niche CARS, HOMES etc.) that would have it’s own domain name extension Homes.ShopRVA.com or Cars.ShopRVA.com etc. Can we do this under the one GD license that we already have in place or do we need to secure additional licenses?

    Also, since you mentioned it above, can we also use the same license for other domains not related to ShopRVA.com? For example, I want to setup a new website called ShopVABeach.com….can I use the same current license we already have to set this up or do I need to secure a new license for this separate website?

    Please explain.

    Yes Robert, GeoDirectory is licensed under the GPL, once you acquire a license you can use it on as many domains as you wish.
