V@ Theme issues with map and event listing

I upgraded to V2 today and my current Bold theme didn’t work so I switched to Modern them after realizing I needed the framework for it to work. On either theme bold or modern I can not get the map to work as the top widget as shown in the preview of those themes and like it worked in V1. Also, I had it previously listing all of my events on my home page and I can no longer get my events to list on my page, only places. I would like V2 theme to work similar to how the V1 was working in my environment with is like this:

Logo on top
map below logo
Navigation either above or below map
Two columns with the left column showing my events
Right column with login widget, calendar then highlight featured places/gyms.

How can I get V2 to display like this?
