    Ok,

I’m stumped. I’ve been at this all day and can’t seem to figure it out. I am using the whoop theme (which is awesome so far so thanks). I want to create a landing/home page that’s similar to Sydney (wordpress theme) or Tumblr’s main page in style/design.

That page will be something that’s informative, etc and then when they click the start button on the launch page it takes them to my GD-Home Page (which is like my Find page) with the map and business listings. I also want them to be able to get to the forums, listings pages etc from the launching page.

How do I accomplish this? So far, I’ve tried creating a new page but it formats all new pages in a way that doesn’t make this feasible. I’ve done a little research on custom page templates but I’m still unsure of how to get this done. All new pages only allows widgets in certain areas which is also very frustrating.

    Please Help and Thanks!!

    Hi Frank,

If you wish to use a custom homepage for your directory, kindly refer to this section of the documentation https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home . If you’re still having trouble, please share WP temp admin access to your site so we can take a better look. You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

I’m sorry, I may not have been clear…

I’m working with the Whoop Theme. However, I want my homepage to look similar to what you see in the pictures which is a completely different theme. I understand how to change GD-Home to a different page so it’s not the home page.

What I’m struggling with is when I create a new page in wordpress (outside of geodirectory), I’m stuck within the boundaries of what the theme allows (style wise). Is there any way outside of this where I can create a home page like the one you see here. What stylesheets do I manipulate in my child theme so I’m able to achieve this.

1st three attachments are what I want the home page to look like. But the 4th attachment is what I’m stuck with when I create a new page. Even page builder won’t work write because the default style of created new pages.

This is what the home screen looks like right now and I can’t customize it to look like I want because I’m stuck with the default styling of all new pages that come with this theme… How do I get around this?

And my website isn’t on the web so I’m not sure how you would access it. I’m developing on Desktop Server within my own computer.

    Hi Frank,

that’s how WordPress and themes work.

I think there is a plugin that will let you use a different theme according to the page visited, but that will slow down your website.

    Thanks

    Ok,

I found an answer for anyone who’s wondering in the future. I created a custom page template.

First, I’m using the Whoop – Child Theme. Inside the Whoop Child Directory, I created a template on a php file. I still wanted the header and footer to appear on the page so I used the get header and get header functions. I also added the content function to the php template file.

From there, I changed the home page to my new template. I then used a plugin (page builder) and used a premade template.

Now everything looks great!! It took me about 8 hours to figure this out but finally did it!
