I’m guessing this is a ridiculously simple question, but I can’t seem to find the answer…
Can someone tell me how/why to use “Place Tags?” I am accustomed to using meta keywords and meta descriptions.
October 1, 2015 at 7:08 pm #55412Hi,
Tags are taxonomy elements used as short keywords.
They are one of the elements searched by the search form along with title, categories and content.
They allow to browse all listings by a specific tag (just like categories).
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks
October 9, 2015 at 8:27 pm #56382So in essence, tags work like meta keywords.
When using search, the tags replaced the category name (circled in screenshot), so I removed all my tags. This is obviously not the best option for SEO and search purposes.
Instead, can I remove all tags from view?
October 9, 2015 at 9:28 pm #56405Hi,
that really depends on the theme, but with css anything can be hidden. Please provide a link where you see the tags that you want to hide and we will provide the css.
Thanks
October 9, 2015 at 9:34 pm #56407Actually Paolo, that’s why I included the screenshot above.
What you see circled is the name of the category (rather than the tags) when you do a general site search. That’s the only place I saw the tags, but to be honest, I didn’t look very hard. When I asked my programmers how to resolve this, they suggested that I remove the tags. So I did.
After reading your post, however, I realized how beneficial tags are for searching, so I want to add them back in.
In all reality, I think I’d like to hide tags everywhere throughout the site, even client listing pages (and in dashboard) so I can control them.
Does that make sense? And is this possible?
October 9, 2015 at 9:37 pm #56408Hi,
I’m sorry to repeat myself:
Hi,
that really depends on the theme, but with css anything can be hidden. Please provide a link where you see the tags that you want to hide and we will provide the css.
We need to see the page where the element is in order to provide the code to hide it…
Thanks
October 10, 2015 at 2:09 pm #56450I re-entered tags for this particular business, so I could show you what I’m referring to. As you can see in the screenshot, the tags show on the search screen (in the same location I mentioned above). So, this would be the first place I need to hide Paolo.
October 10, 2015 at 2:15 pm #56452Paolo, just found this on your forum. Would this do the trick?

October 10, 2015 at 4:49 pm #56489Hi,
that will help you hide the tags field from the add listing form, in that case you stop using tags.
However that search results page doesn’t look like a GD page, that why I’m asking for a link. Thanks
October 10, 2015 at 5:03 pm #56493Ahhh. You are correct Paolo. I will ask on the other theme support forum to see if they have a solution.
Again, thanks.
October 10, 2015 at 5:05 pm #56494You are welcome, however if you provide a link to that page, it will be easy to provide css to only hide tags from search results.
Just FYI,
Thanks
October 12, 2015 at 6:42 pm #56633Paolo,
For that search, I searched for “amigos.” But I’ll need it to work for all search criteria, so I’m not sure how to provide you with a link to that page.
Help?
October 12, 2015 at 7:06 pm #56639HI,
1 link will be enough. Css will hide them for any keyword, once applied.
Thanks
