Which URL format of languages to choose?

I use WPML. There will be many languages on the site. Users from different countries will create ads in their own languages. Some countries will use 2-3 languages. Please advise on which URL format to choose?

1) Languages in different directories ( (https://site/ – English, https://site/ru/ – Russian) )
2) Separate domain for each language
3) Language name added as parameter (https://site?lang=ru – Russian)

You should choose option 1. The other options will not work correctly.

We recommend 1) option ex: http://www.site.com/LANG/.

You can leave directory use for default language.
