When I select images to upload for a listing, then there should the “wordpress media library” come, not the “windows explorer”. To select the images already in wordpress media library or upload new ones with the wordpress media library.

because right now I have to upload always new images and I cannot select already uploaded images from the wordpress media library, this is a big disadvantage.

can you please change this? or what is the reason why you dont use the wordpress media library to select and/or upload images for listings?

    Thanks

That’s been discussed multiple times on the forum. The reason is simple, WordPress creates 1 row in the wp_post table plus other rows in the wp_postmeta for each image and each size.

While that’s not a problem for blogs with up to few thousands of posts, it becomes a scalability issue for directories that may need to list millions of listings, potentially each with multiple images.

You’ll end up with a wp_post table and wp_postmeta tables a lot bigger than the actual tables of your listings.

ok, I understand. But is this normal that all the images I uploaded show up in media library again? All images I uploaded with a gd listing or with gd import (ftp upload to the media library) I can see in wordpress media library again. This is correct?

whenever I change the order of the images, that I uploaded from a gd listing then the image I changed are then visible in the wordpress media library.

Is this behaviour correct? Why is this?

    Thanks Paolo

The 1st image of each listing is added as wp featured image and that only is saved in the media library.

If you change the 1st image the new image will be saved in the media library too, bit the old one will not be cancelled.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks

    Hi Marc,

GD only stores the 1st image of a listing in the media lib so that themes can take advantage of this being the featured image, all other images are stored in our own tables.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
