Workaround when people search for abbreviation

    Hello
    I am trying to figure out a way to show the right reseults to people who look for an abbreviation instead of the full name
    my case is that Brazilian jiu-jitsu and bjj are both very used and so a lot of people look for bjj and vicersa… some gym added both name in the description, and that is ok…
    but most gyms used one or the other. is there a way / workaround to show both results when you look for bjj?
    that would be nice also for “alternative name” or plain wrong research.

    the best way is to use tags to add the alternate keywords.

    I agree, but I cannot expect people who insert their gym add the correct tag, too (actually i expect the opposite)…

    does the search look into the slug too?

    I don’t think so, it looks into title, description, categories and tags.

    You can’t expect your user to make your website perfect, there is a website admin for that.

    Paolo, i love your work and your dedication to it (it s friday and a reply in 10 minutes is much more than anyone could expect from support) but, frankly, that was a shitty reply…

    I’m sorry you felt that way, in my opinion it was a wise reply. If you want your directory to stand out, don’t expect to get there without curating your content.

    How many new listings per day are added to your directory right now? It shouldn’t take very long to make sure all have the right tags to be found by your visitors.

    If you think your visitors will mess us, help them with notes on the add listing page to make them understand what they need to add to their listings to be found.

    I’m not sure why you felt it was a shitty reply…

    At the end I added ( bjj ) in the name. It’s very long and not so nice, but at least it works
