Did you check them against the database, or against the original CSV uploaded? (and I do not mean the one you prepared, because that one was not consistent for regions and missed data etc, which was corrected before upload).
So how did you get both United States and United States of America as countries?
I think the best thing to do is to restore the backup you made before the new import and then we can have a look at your new CSV file. That way, Paolo’s work would not be wasted.
November 23, 2014 at 10:25 pm #22382Deleting the tags now will not work, the locations have been duplicated and have been given a -1 slug. That cannot be undone just by deleting a tag. You will also need to merge all your locations after that, and you need to make sure you choose the correct one as the main one or you will be left with the -1 location.
November 23, 2014 at 10:25 pm #22383Here is the csv. Same csv, same region. Some went into correct region name others went into region with -1 on end, from Same csv.
I have not added anything with united states of america.
It is not so easy to just reset, there have been new user generated listings. in the past few days.
Please stop assuming that I am causing this.
November 23, 2014 at 10:53 pm #22387The post-author needs to be the ID, so needs to be 1.
There are quite a few invalid characters in the description and addresses, shown like
They might give errors too on import.I sorted all the mississippi-1 slugs in the database.
I also sorted the US of A, which was an original listing imported in Ohio. The problem I think was that there still was a mississippi slug in both locations and tags before you imported the new file.
November 23, 2014 at 11:07 pm #22388OK, How do i remove/delete any slug from other parts of wp that has the name of a Country/Region/City so that all location slugs will be without the -1. (so i can fix anything like ( http://vapestores.com/directory/united-states/south-dakota-1/ ) that i find. And.-> Avoid this issue of same csv causing using different tags for same region, in the future, by always looking for and deleting any tag that refers to a region/country/city not in the locations database?
____________
I thought I had asked about the user id to use, and I thought you said it was ok to use director, my bad if I misunderstood. I will use “1” as ID for future uploads.
I did not see any invalid characters in the last file i sent, but I think that non-english listings have characters that people try to use (spanish, greek). Right now I am only planning on uploading USA / Canada / UK / AUSTRALIA , but i will keep an eye out and avoid loading non-english characters.
Thank you
November 24, 2014 at 3:55 am #22394Before you import more listings for south dakota, go to the wp-terms table in the database and look there for south-dakota.
If it is there as south-dakota, change it to south-dakota-1
Then import your listings. Because south-dakota as a slug is not taken yet, it will be available for your region.
The same applies for cities and countries.November 25, 2014 at 4:51 am #22519Ok,
I did not find any south dakota in the wp terms. I went to the table and updated geo tags with south-dakota-1 and removed the -1 from a couple listings. Now none of the south dakota listings are showing in the front end, and when i look at the back end the one’s that i removed the -1 from have vanished. Only 6 listings in that region so reloading all is easy, but would like to know what i did wrong, and why None are showing, so i dont repieat what i did again.
November 25, 2014 at 7:59 am #22524You have to remove the -1 in thegeodir_gd_place_detail table, there are six listings there for south-dakota which still have a -1.
You have corrected the locations in the geodir_post_locations, but not the listings table.November 26, 2014 at 5:39 pm #22706This reply has been marked as private.November 26, 2014 at 9:18 pm #22756If this was the first listing in Washington State, it looked in the database, already found a ‘washington’ slug in in the wp_terms table, and therefore created a -1 slug.
You still had a ‘washington’ slug in the wp_terms table. I changed that to a -1 slug.
I also changed 2 location:
/united-states/washington/lacey
united-states/missouri/washingtonAnd changed the slugs of 2 listings.
To answer your last question: the slugs for GD are independent of the slugs in the wp_terms table, but having said that, the cannot be the same.
GD can create a washington slug for every location, whether it be a state or a city. As long that slug is not in the wp_terms table already.November 26, 2014 at 9:32 pm #22766Thank you, I really am trying to get a handle on how to fix this myself to get the last kinks out. Sorry for keeping asking about this.
