Hi, I installed GEODIRECTORY on a virtual server and eventually upgraded to a dedicated server. I transferred all of my websites /files to the dedicated BUT, GEO directory is causing problems now because it is still calling on files on the old server.
I believe it is causing at least TWO problems:
#1. the WP dashboard shows as NOT SECURE because the GD “places” icon is calling on the old server to host the icon. (see attached image)
#2. a few times a day, GD and my site will TIME OUT when someone is using it. I believe this is because it is looking on the old server for files which are not to be found.
When I changed servers, ALL websites updated properly except this GD plugin… All websites, all plugins, all installations EXCEPT the GD plugin.
Please advise on a solution for remedy.
March 13, 2019 at 1:48 pm #474325Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your post. It looks like you did not fully complete the migration process. You’ll have to correct the links using the “Search and Replace” plugin as explained here https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Changing_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs . Well, give it a try and let us know how it goes.
March 13, 2019 at 3:53 pm #474345those search and replace plugins seems to be for replacing content and the likes…
The problem is not with links in the content or anything… the problem is that the geodirectory plugin (and only the GD plugin) is still calling to the old server when it is looking for the FAVICON that shows next to the PLACES menu in the WP dashboard.
I do not see where the search and replace plugins can fix that.

Thanks for your reply. Could you provide both WP and FTP access in private reply so that I could forward this to a developer for further assistance?

March 13, 2019 at 7:04 pm #474378the main indication of an error is that the page is not secure.
the SSL is broken due to the PLACES globe icon trying to be pulled from a non-existent server (the old server)
the WP dashboard site is insecure for you right?.
and, the PLACES globe icon does not appear right?thank you for your help

When trying to visit wp-login.php I get: Sorry, your request cannot be accepted.
How is the globe icon pulled from a non-existent server, did you change the domain name?
Please answer that question or let us know how we can see your dashboard.
Thanks

March 13, 2019 at 7:32 pm #474390great! I ran that plugin, and now my website is gone. Searching for the old url and replacing it with the new using search and replace stalled at Processing table 3 of 6: wp_geodir_post_icon
and now the site is gone… oye!
also, please remove or mark private the post you made with my domain name referenced. thanks
March 13, 2019 at 7:41 pm #474393so i am having to restore my DATABASE to last nights backup. hopefully that brings the site online again. I think this will delete all of today’s work and signups and user info… I dont think that plugin is all its cut out to be as it has cause d damage to our business now and resulting in an injury – not cool!
March 13, 2019 at 7:42 pm #474394I really can not believe you recommended I do that.
