Where can I find the categories in SQL? I need to transfer them all over to the live site, but I cannot find the data in MySQL? I have like over 40, so would be nice to find them and import via SQL rather than making them all again..

I found the categories in wp_terms, but when I add new ones there they don’t show up as categories

I don’t think it is that simple; categories have to be appended to the right custom posts etc as well.
Could you export the whole database and import into the new database? You’d only need to change the Site URL in the WP-options table?

Or else we can ask Paolo …

There are plugin that allow to create a clone of the original website, change URL if needed and restore on another install.

I honestly never even tried to transfer categories via sql.

I can’t do the whole database sadly. Hmmm, bummer. Shouldn’t have waisted so much time making them on the dev server >.<

If it’s just categories etc, won’t the standard WP export/import functions work for you? That’s how i’m setting up everything on my theme dev sites…

Interesting John, never looked at that either.
But looking at it now, the list does not contain any CTPs other than the original Places and Events. New CTPS are not listed.
But they are exported, but will only be imported if you already have set up your CTPs to match in the new installation.
I have not tested thoroughly but just wanted to share.
