    Hello,

I came across two problems when using latest version of GeoDirectory.

    1. Registered users cannot add new places. I have allowed anyone for registration and their default role is AUTHOR. In this case, they should be able to add new places from their dashboard. However, the post didn’t show up after they submitted the form.

    2. Multiratings problem: after one user thumbs up on the review, other users can only thumb down. I understand this problem is related to plugin. I can post this question on multiratings plugin category if you want.

I will post the website information in the private reply.

    Thanks for your time.

    Ros

I’m not 100% sure, but I think that the 1st problem is related to the URL with the custom port at the end.

The 1st thing I’ve tried was settings correct permalinks, but whatever you se other than defauly will give 404 for every page.

I think the second problem could be related to that too… ajax call might fail

I’m flagging this for Stiofan so that he can confirm.

Thanks for the quick response, paolo. The whole website is currently running in a docker container, and port 80 is exposed to 10080. That’s the reason where the custom port comes from. Based on current configuration it is quite difficult for me to change the custom port. Do you think there’s some solution to fix this? Thanks again.

I have never tried developing a wordpress site that way. The fact that changing permalinks affects both the hello-world post and the sample page, it means that WordPress itself is having problem with it.

I’m positive that once you move the website out of the docker container and run it normally, it will work as expected.

The only solution I see is to either develop on a staging server or look on google for information about running WordPress on a docker container to see if there is anything that could help you use all features, permalinks included.

    Thx

    Thank you, paolo.

I have removed custom port from my website, and you can access directly. Here are the findings after I use permalinks. When location manager plugin is activated, permalinks works on all the pages(Home and ‘about us’ pages), but not on the places GeoDirectory has created. If location manager plugin is disabled, all permlinks work perfectly, but new users still cannot add new places.

Could you please help me look into that? Thanks.

I would like to close this thread since I have found the problem. The above weird things happened due to the incorrect settings in php5, more specifically, on session folder, which should be writable. After I removed the comment in php.ini and corrected folder access right, everything runs smooth now. Although multirating plugin seems working again, I will keep an eye on it. If there’s something wrong with it, I will post it in the correct category. Thanks to GeoDirectory team, who responds very quickly.
