omangateOctober 13, 2014 at 6:36 am #18166Hi, have a look here
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/moving-to-a-faster-host-can-anyone-suggest/October 13, 2014 at 7:25 am #18167Hi Guust,
Thanks for pointing to that thread although you pointed twice for Bluehost of course with site optimizing but PAOLO suggested to go for wirenine.com so the question now is there any compatibility problem with GeoDirectory if we choose any of them for our hosting.
Thanks,
omangateOctober 13, 2014 at 7:36 am #18168I don’t have experience with MDD, except for logging into a GD user’s admin panel and doing some basic work on the site. I remember being pretty impressed with the speed.
October 13, 2014 at 8:13 am #18169Thanks Guust,
Sorry but still the question valid which one really work smoothly with GeoDirectory (Bluehost or wirenine.com) especially with php sessions requirement .
Thanks,
omangateOctober 13, 2014 at 6:20 pm #18226Hi Omangate,
both will work fine. BLuehost has apache servers, while wirenine.com has lightspeed, which makes it much faster.
So far, wirenine.com is the one I’m more impressed with, considering price and service offered.
If you really want the top, you want a dedicated server. We have one (with hetzner in Germany because of their great prices) and we have a server admin taking care of it for €60/month.
He installed nginx and fastcgi instead of Apache (or lightspped) and that along with 24gb of ram, a powerful CPU, optimized mysql and fast connectivity, makes it the ideal solution compared to any “packeged hosting” plan.
However we deal with thousands of daily visitors and 2 active support forums.
Our servers bill is over $200 month, so something like bluehost or wirenine.com at the beginning can be a good choice.
Thx
December 2, 2014 at 8:04 pm #23318I hope you have a better experience then me with Bluehost. I switched from their “el cheapo” shared hosting to the Optimized WP Hosting back in July. It has been a nightmare since day 1.
First, the migration of my existing sites (which they do) did not go well.
Second, everytime I had tried to upload X-Theme it has failed and it takes support forever to fix and existing problem on their end.
Third, one of my sites is an ecomm site using Woothemes. There is compatiblity issue with Bluehost setup/configuration of varnish that causes the cart not to work. They fix it, then it goes down again. I can’t tell you the countless hours that I have spent on this one issue.
It is worth noting that before I moved to their service I specifically asked if they had any conflict with any plugins – they said no. Yet after I moved and had the problems they said that the conflict between varnish and WooCommerce was known – and it is not like WooCommerce is some obscure plugin so I question their integrity as well.
Last week they disabled varnish and the ecomm site/cart work great but now all three of my site are slower. The technical support guy was trying to improve things but made it worse and to top it off the chat session got disconnected and I have no idea what he did and how to roll it back – I even emailed the tech and got no response.
Fourth, a few weeks ago I have activating the Sitelock Security & CDN that is included with the plan. Something is wrong on there end and the install “is stuck”. They have not fixed it in weeks – but the real frosting on the cake is that last Saturday night I got a message from Bluehost that my hosting expired due to non-payment and threatened to delete all my files within 48 hours. I IMMEDIATELY went into my account check out the payment stuff and tried to pay manually – which failed and it failed because of Bluehost’s outstanding problems that they have been unable to resolve regarding the SitLock & CDN installation was preventing Bluehost from processing my payment. It had NOTHING do do with my willingness or ability to pay.
My sites were down (and over a busy holiday season) because THEY could process a PAYMENT because of their own defects & problems – trust me things got VERY colorfu. Finally someone there “over-rode” the system so that my account show renewed until December – and they said they were doing me a favor “giving” me a free month of service. YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME!!! The technical issue still remains.
Like I said I hope you have better luck.
Stacey
PS I just found this post as I am looking for a new hosting company…no big surprise there.
