    I noticed that my GD listings are not getting indexed and after submitting them multiple times, just found out why. They are all set to noindex. Here’s what I see as line 5 after the title tag on all of the GD listings:

    <meta name=’robots’ content=’noindex,follow’ />

    I didn’t add that meta to the header manually and can’t find anywhere to undo it.

    I’m using the Genesis Travel theme which comes with Genesis SEO settings. I did mark the robots no index for the various archive pages, but can’t find anywhere where the gd_place custom post type pages could have been marked as noindex.

    I checked everywhere that I can find that applies to SEO, but don’t see anywhere to undo the noindex.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Scott,

    Do you think you can share temp admin access to your site so we can take a better look? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kor –

    Thanks for the offer to help, but now I feel dumb as I just figured it out.

    If anyone else has this issue, you should check WordPress Settings/Reading and make sure to uncheck “Discourage Search Engines from Indexing this Site”. If that’s checked, it adds the meta noindex to your header.

    Another tip I learned while researching this:

    If you are using a Genesis theme with GD, there is no way by default to change the SEO settings for individual listings.

    You can enable the Genesis SEO options for the listings which are custom post types, by adding this to functions.php.

    //* Allow SEO settings on place custom post type
    add_post_type_support( ‘gd_place’, ‘genesis-seo’ );

    This assumes you are using the default gd_place for your listings.
