When sharing a Place to Facebook it Randomly says nothing about The Place & photos doesn’t load … although, the link appears on Facebook with a blank box and “Share.ES” displayed.
Images are jpegs.
Any ideas?
Site is http://www.InEnglish.biz
November 26, 2014 at 10:54 am #22646Do you mean when you share using the ShareThis link?
I guess that has to do with http://www.sharethis.com.
But I’ll ask the others too.November 26, 2014 at 11:25 am #22650Yes please elaborate on how exactly u are sharing.

November 26, 2014 at 12:31 pm #22671Yes Guust and Stiffen – I’ll attach a screen shot. I was using Safari, and going to try with Chrome today. The first image is where I share from, the second is what I would expect to see next before sharing to FB and when I see this it works ok.
The third image is what I often see when there’s an error as there are no pictures and the transfer to FB shows “share.es” in the box where the picture and details should be.
Hope that makes sense…November 26, 2014 at 12:36 pm #22676Also…. I don’t know if it’s related but my Home page, which is set to the Geodirectory homepage randomly disappears and replaces itself with the old WordPress home page
November 26, 2014 at 12:39 pm #22678Me again… is does the same in Chrome too

November 26, 2014 at 8:25 pm #22732Have just published another place URL – http://www.inenglish.biz/listing/france/bretagne/persquen/holidays/your-holiday-home-from-home-in-brittany/ and tried to share it to FB and got this
November 26, 2014 at 9:49 pm #22771Hi,
the only times I’ve experienced something similar is when I tried sharing a brand new post from a blog that wasn’t crawled frequently by search engine.
Bascially if Google hadn’t indexed the page, the link shared was appearing with no image, just like yours. Once the page was index by major search engine, facebook was adding the image too.
I don’t know if this has to do with Bing (which is partner with FB) or exactly why this is happening, but I did recreate the exact same thing on your website.
This URL is still not indexed by any search engine:
Result on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10154876316170183&id=113248705182
This URL is indexed: http://www.inenglish.biz/listing/france/limousin/boussac/leisure/gems-and-crystals/
Result on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10154876352430183&id=113248705182
I don’t think it is anything we can fix on our side though. One thing you should fix instead are locations. You have some “all” locations that will confuse the system.
GeoDirectory should be used only with real locations.
You should also add the location switcher somewhere, or ppl will not be able to browse your website correctly.
Thanks
November 27, 2014 at 8:14 am #22828I don’t understand what you mean by “all” locations or real locations or a location switcher. So sorry for my ignorance.
November 27, 2014 at 10:59 am #22832I updated the page u posted via the facebook debug tool, it told me that when it tried to crawl the page it responded with a 404, so i got it to crawl it again and it worked https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

November 27, 2014 at 12:28 pm #22843This is what Paolo means:
Go to GD > design > navigation > Show geodirectory navigation in selected menu locations > select your main menu there. You maybe already did that.
Then go to GD > multilocations > settings > Show location switcher in menu > YES
When you look at GD > multilocations > manage locations, you will see some locations that do not refer to a city – region – country, but they will include “all”, for example paris – all – france.
That is because you have not set the location correctly when adding the listing in the admin area.
All locations need to be in this format: city – region – country. This might be handy too: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/faqs/how-do-i-merge-locations/
