How many is too many?

With reference to the error message:
“Column change failed, you may have too many columns.”

Somewhere earlier I found a thread talking about too many fields and the topic included the detail table not being updated, and not sure even how that is possible.

Because I did a direct DB import and wasn’t able to edit the fields afterwards. (no surprise?)

So if a field is added to the CPT ‘scholarships’ (wp_geodir_custom_fields)
Then shouldn’t the wp_geodir_gd_scholarships_detail table have a row added to it?

I’ve got 35 fields at the moment.
