All footer links gone after update GD

    I just update my GD yesterday. After that the All footer links gone. like about us, privacy policy, contact us, fb, G+, etc all are gone. why it happened ? Is that happens every time i update my GD . who can i prevent this type of loss.

    Hi,

    Updating themes and plugins doesn’t delete Menus and I don’t see any menu under Appearance >> Menu.

    How was that added?

    I added this links by editing the Editor -> footer.php

    Hi,

    that is not the right way to do it and yes when updating the theme, the footer.php is rewritten and your changes are wiped out.

    You should use a child theme and copy the footer.php in it if you don’t want this to happen.
