I am building a site which will have over 15000 posts separated into 9 custom post types. My challenge is an effective and smooth way to update posts in bulk particularly to add pictures as they are collected over time.

How exactly can I go about adding/editing data (images, custom data) to existing posts using CSV or directly via database?

There is really no shortcut for that. Because in most cases, there is more than one table in the database involved, so the quickest and safest way is to use the WP admin area.

Adding new listings can be done using CSV, but editing is not possible that way.

I have being doing some research and maybe you can provide any advise if I may have missed something.

Updating records, from looking at the table structures etc, the core GD listing details data are stored in the respective custom post table _detail. If I update those with a script all appears to work well.

It appears that the core wordpress application manages the images. Is this correct? I found a tool that appears to do the job, WPALLImports which I can use to update images and stuff stored directly in wordpress core default structures.

    Any thoughts on this appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Images are mixed, they are stored in normal wp table but also in our custom table for faster access.

    Thanks
