everything looks correct to me.

If I click on add place I go to:

http://www.stayscotland.scot/add-your-place/?listing_type=gd_place

If i click on add event I go to:

http://www.stayscotland.scot/add-your-place/?listing_type=gd_event

The add listing page is one. The variable at the end is what makes the difference (gd_place/gd_event).

that is not possible, the default add listing page is one.

You can do that creating 2 new pages adding the shortcode in them, one for places and one for events: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/#add-listing.

Do not select any of these 2 pages in GD >> Permalinks for the add listing page, leave the default one.

Now use the links to these 2 pages to direct users to the 2 different forms.
