Search function not working

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    I am having troubles with the search function. If I search for a known keyword that should yield at least one result, I am taken to the results page which says this: Search for: All0 Sorry, but nothing matched your search criteria. Please try again with some different keywords.

    Other times if I do get a result it is just text that has a link to “read more” but which just refreshes the same page once clicked.

    I have also installed the Events plugin. I was expecting Events to join the other custom post types on the search bar but it doesn’t. How do I view them? How do people go to add an event? The “Add Listing” page I registered in permalinks will only allow a Place to be added, none of the other custom post types.

    Hi,

    to answer to your question about search, we will need to have a look at your website. Please provide a link and admin credentials in a private reply and we will have a look.

    After installing Events, you need to allow users to submit events and add the add events link from GeoDirectory > Design > Navigations: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#navigation

    Hi,

    the theme is made to have the map on the right of the listings page. You shouldn’t be using images as map markers, that will make the map useful again.

    If you want to remove the map and make the page full width, you’ll need some css code.

    TRhe search problem was caused by this plugin : BuddyPress Global Search. It is not to hijack any kind of search query so it can’t be used in combination with GD.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your help, I am unfortuntately still having the problem. I removed the default category image from the Business categories and in GD > DESIGN > MAP the default marker icon is the pin, yet the large image still covers the map.

    Events still don’t show up in the main search bar either.

    Please use those sent above – I have given admin role again…

    Search now shows the events but maybe you could also take a look at my payment plan names, I changed them in the editor but they do not correspond on the add listing pages.

    Hi,

    you are still using bigger images for the map icon than the default images.

    Normally map markers are 40/50px in width maximum.

    Hi I am confused where they are supposed to be added? There is a default icon in the GD settings but it appears to use the category image?

    the default generic icon is only used if nothing is added per category.

    you can do that via CSV import. Just import without an icon and it will use the default.

    Maybe you could help me out with something else, I have updated my Prices but the changes do not show on the create listing page. I tried emptying the cache…
