I have a strange one. I got a message from a user who had signed up that he could not complete his purchase. When he would go to listing preview page he said the page showed as broken.
I have created the listing myself. But his user account does not show up in list for assigning listing owner (Liqualites). Also when I chose to edit the page from the front end, and went to listing preview, I also got a broken page and could only update info from admin backend.
February 27, 2015 at 10:57 pm #32346Hi,
you have to make him author before you can assign him a listing (subscribers can’t edit posts in wordpress) or go through the claim listing process.
Thanks
February 28, 2015 at 1:12 am #32354I dont think that really explains this. I have 0 users who are assigned as authors, yet i have listing owners. i think my previous directory categorized everyone as subscribers, and wpgeo catagorizes everyone as contributor (or the other way around?), but I have 0 author level users and I do have people fill out listings, and claim etc. So i dont think that explains this.
February 28, 2015 at 1:14 am #32355also, as i mentioned, from the front end edit page signed in as admin, i was unable to bring up the listing preview page for this listing, neither could the user who was attempting to submit a listing.
February 28, 2015 at 3:24 am #32362Like Paolo said, you have to set the user temporarily to Author (or contributor) , then assign the listing to him/her and then change the user back to Subscriber.
I have done that for you. I cannot see anything wrong at all.GD follows your settings at WP > general > New User Default Role, which is set to Subscriber in your case. That is OK.
Your imported users are set as Contributors, that is probably why they show up in the list. Your new users are set as Subscriber.
Your register page does not have a “submit” button. You might want to review your buddypress settings.
The preview page works fine for new listings if you are logged in as the correct user, I just tested everything with a new user.
February 28, 2015 at 3:43 am #32363Thank you for testing it out.
Many Users come up in the list to choose from, i was not aware that these were contributer’s, and that just the subscribers were not showing up in the list of possible users to assign it to.
I have tested the preview page, and most of the time it works, just got the error from this last time, not sure why, if it continues we can explore more, could be anything or nothing, who knows, but seems to work most of the time. i would not be surprised if it was caused by lag from the avada theme or some conflict with avada.
The register page…. This is a template issue, the submit button appears on the far right, the issue is avada template issue again. I am having way to many issues with avada constantly, never seems to work well with wpgeo or anything else for that matter, and its really heavy and causes server speed to be slower, and just have not been happy with it. Am looking at changing it. would be nice if you guys had a light weight template that you recommended/supported.
February 28, 2015 at 3:59 am #32364Well, we do the GDF framework, with 2 child themes.
The demo uses the GDF CHild theme, and this is an example of the GDF modern theme:
