Problem on facebook sharer in fr_FR

Hi,

Happy new year…

I have some trouble to get a great sharing on facebook. When I put the language on fr_FR the facebook post is displaying correctly the title , the site name. But it does not work for the except. Instead I get “%%extrait%%”.

So I tried to fix it. I took a look at “geodirectory-fr_FR” and change in the directory %%extrait%% to %%except%%. But it does not work either. I keep on having %%extrait%%” in the facebook post while the others work fine.

However when I put the setting in the english language, there is no problem. the text from the except is displayed correctly as well as the other text category.

You should not translate coded strings like %%excerpt%% [notice the r in excerpt].
I am not sure if that is the issue, because I don’t completely understand your question.
Are you using the Social Importer to post to Facebook?

Hi,

The downloaded file on https://wpgeodirectory.com/translate/projects had %%excerpt%% translated into %%extrait%% so I changed it to %%excerpt%% but without success.

I installed supreme theme and on detail page for places I have the facebook share button (see below) . When I click on it in language english (setting -> general -> language -> English) no problem but when I click on it in french language (setting -> general -> language -> French)I get “%%extrait%%” and I don’t understand why.
however in the .po and .mo i use (attached) there is no trace of %%extrait%%. and for information I put the files into wp-content/languages/plugins like the others .mo

Hello,

It looks like what you did fixed it but facebook had already cached the results so it kept showing, i cleared the cache for one page. If you ever need to clear the facebook cache of a url just go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ and the click “Scrape again”

Hi,

Ok Thank you The problem is now solved. So I don’t know If it’s you who translate the .PO files but you should make change in geodirectory_fr.po file to untranslate the variable %%extrait%% .
