Apologies if this has been raised previously – I did submit this as a feature request a while ago but it has yet to appear on the submissions list for some reason.
I’m finding listings in large cities that have mutliple locations of the same business problematic from a SEO perspective because one can end up with dozens of listings with identical titles and meta descriptions.
Take Starbucks for example. In New York they are everywhere and each different location ends up having a title like “Starbucks in New York | Sitename” based on the available variables. Obviously this is not great for SEO because you end up with 100+ pages with the same title and meta details.
Is there anyway the street address field could be picked up as a variable so that it too could appear in titles and descriptions to differentiate each listing and give it a unique title?
January 7, 2017 at 5:54 pm #338533Hello, have u looked at this addon? https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/franchise-manager/

Yes, I’m aware of the Franchise Manager addon but I haven’t seen it in operation. I can see the huge benefits of being able to have all of those businesses tied to a main listing, but I’m not sure it’s what I need. For many reasons, I still need to be able to individually adjust and optimise individual locations almost as though they were unrelated businesses.
At this stage, I’m tying to get a sense of whether what I’m asking for is feasibie, I’m surprised it’s not something more people are asking for (i.e. the ability to tailor titles, descriptions in more granular detail).
If I have to hire a developer to modify, I’m happy to do that – just trying to understand how complex it might be to accomplish. I was thinking of some way to just pick up the street address line as a variable that could be used in the title and description.
Many thanks
January 8, 2017 at 1:06 am #338627With the Franchise Manager, they are all different listings, they are just connected to each other.
So each franchise can have its own title, description, photos, reviews, etc.
And therefore will have different meta titles and descriptions.January 8, 2017 at 6:47 am #338677I’m probably missing some thing, but if, for example, my title is set as
%%title%% in %%location%%am I not still going to end up with lots of pages with identical titles. eg Starbucks in London
January 8, 2017 at 8:29 am #338681You will if you just call all of them “Starbucks” instead of “Hyde Park Starbucks”, “Trafalgar Square Starbucks” etc
January 8, 2017 at 9:06 am #338689Yes, that’s the issue. I don’t particularly want to be tinkering with the business name in each instance.
The ideal solution for me would be to be able to add another differentiating variable such as street address, or a recognisable location such as shopping mall name, cross streets, neighbourhood etc
January 8, 2017 at 11:46 am #338769I think it should be possible to create a new variable for the street address to be used at GD > Titles and Meta.
Let’s ask Stiofan – after the weekend.January 9, 2017 at 2:18 pm #339521Yeah that would be possible if thats the route you want to go?

January 10, 2017 at 9:03 pm #340574Yes, I think an additional variable like that would be a useful way to give each listing a unique title and that should bring some SEO benefits
Many thanks
January 11, 2017 at 6:47 pm #341067Not tested but this should work, let me know if not.
