Hello:
I’m a new WP user and I’ve added the Geo directory to a child theme of Customizr. It seems to have installed okay, but I’m not sure how to begin working with the sample files. I tried to create a new category, but it didn’t show up anywhere that I could find. What I want to do is create a page that will list some farms with a map on the top and two search buttons, one to search for location and one to search by name. Can you tell me how view the listings on the menu and create a new page with a new category?
June 5, 2014 at 7:56 pm #3666Hi Cathy,
once you create the new category, a virtual page is created for it.
Example if you create a new category for Places, let’s say Farms, it will appear when visiting the following URL:
yoursite.com/places/farms
You can add a link to the menu in WordPress dashboard via
Appearance >> Menus.
If you click on screen option (top right) you will see all GD elements that can be added to your custom menu.
To add a map to the top of your category page, go to
Appearance >> Widgets
Now simply add the “GD > GMap – Listing page” widget to the “GD Listing Top Section” widget area. Set width and height and make sure Map Sticky(should stick to the right of screen) ? is disabled.
The same you can do for the search by adding the GD > Search widget above or below the Map.
Let us know if you still have issues.
Thanks,

the directory is installed and running and looks perfectly compatible with your theme.
just visit this page: youriste.com/location/
The only reason why icons are not showing in the map is because somehow dummy categories icons are missing.
I’ve created a new category test and you can see it here:
yoursite.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=gd_placecategory&post_type=gd_place
Thanks
June 12, 2014 at 2:43 am #4036Thank you Paolo. I can see the location now at the link you suggested. I’m not sure how to put that on my page on the menu, but I want to populate the list first. However, I can’t type in any new listings under my new category. The city of Ottawa is the required city, but all of the farms are outside of the city in the countryside. Also, how do I get the icons back for the dummy categories?
June 12, 2014 at 5:54 pm #4089Hi,
to work with a greater area you will need to install the multilocation addon.
To get the icons back, I’d delete dummy data and re-upload it. Something probably went wrong while downloading them from our server.
Thx
June 12, 2014 at 6:21 pm #4094to add a new menu item you will go to Appearance >> Menu and continue from there.
Thx
June 12, 2014 at 11:55 pm #4124It is not easy to purchase your products. I finally purchased the multilocation addon by going to your other site and registering there (a bit of a hassle to figure it out). It would be much easier to purchase from the Geo Directory Theme home page. Now how do I download the addon?
June 13, 2014 at 12:18 am #4125HIi Cathy,
here you can only buy the bundle that includes all addons and subscription.
On theme tailors you can buy the addons individually.
It’s not that complicated after all…
Now that you bought it on Theme Tailors, you can login there, click on your avatar (next to log out link) >> My Orders.
Click on the order number link and you will find the download button.
The link to the order page with the download link was also sent to your email.
Thank you 🙂
June 13, 2014 at 12:41 am #4127I’m sorry to be so obtuse, but this is all so new for me. Now that the file is downloaded how do I connect it to the Geo Directory files/WP site?
June 13, 2014 at 3:29 pm #4180Hi Paolo:
I tried reinstalling the sample data. It didn’t bring back the missing icons.
Also, I can’t add new places because I can’t figure out how to add the mulitilocations addon I purchased. I unzipped the files, but now what? Again, all I need is a simple searchable list with maps.I’m running out of time and any help you can give me today would be so appreciated as I need to get this working this weekend.
Thank you,
Cathy -
