(not sure what this would come under so please advise if in the wrong place!)
On a recent update, the main search function on the homepage of my directory site has shifted to the right and i am unsure how to move it (www.liverylist.co.uk). Having looked at the options on the admin (GD > Design > Search) i can only see the option to change the wording, not the position. Suggestions please if this can be amended?
March 1, 2017 at 2:51 pm #364656Hi Cheryl,
Before I work out a custom CSS for you, may I ask, do you still need the default search field? Or you only need the “Near Search Field”?
Thanks!
March 4, 2017 at 3:38 pm #365358Sorry for delay! Not sure what the default search field is set at but as long as the user can search by location (either by entering their town/ postcode manually or by selecting location services ‘near me’) and to be able to search by key word or contents of the listing titles (which is the search option home homepage accessed by clicking the little cog style button). Thanks
March 4, 2017 at 7:39 pm #365380Hi Cheryl,
If you would like to search a listing by keyword, you must use the default search field and to achieve this, remove the custom CSS you’ve applied to hide the search field. It should look like the below and you should be able to locate it in GD > Design > Scripts > Custom Style CSS.
.home .search_text { display: none !important; }March 6, 2017 at 8:09 am #365545Ok thanks. The search functions have always been set up the same (to be able to search by location or listing title on homepage, and location or keyword on other sidebars on the site). These functions have always been the same since site start but its just that when i recently updated it has shifted the search bar across to the left. I dont want to change any of the search functions from what they currently are just the position of the search bar on the homepage back to central alignment?
March 6, 2017 at 12:01 pm #365588Hi Cheryl,
You can try using the custom CSS code below and see if it’s what you’re looking for. Insert into GD > Design > Script > Custom Style CSS.
.gd-search-input-wrapper.gd-search-field-search { display: none!important; } .geodir-search { width:600px!important; }March 8, 2017 at 8:07 am #366075Thanks- will give it a go!
March 8, 2017 at 8:22 am #366078It solves the issue with the search on the homepage, but also alters the position of the search bar in the right side bar (like the attached screen grab) which should normally be like here http://www.liverylist.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=Hedge+End&sgeodir_YardName=&sgeo_lat=50.91364280000001&sgeo_lon=-1.3038761999999906
Is there a way to change the one on homepage, but not the other?
ThanksMarch 8, 2017 at 10:01 am #366085Hi Cheryl,
Try this custom CSS below instead and see if it works.
.home .gd-search-input-wrapper.gd-search-field-search { display: none!important; } .home .geodir-search { width:600px!important; }Thanks!
March 10, 2017 at 10:19 am #366531Perfect- solved. Thanks for your help!
