Merging locations

Hi, how do I merge locations shown in different pages of the admin backend?. It works fine within locations in the same page (tick on two or more and then click on merge) but when you tick in a place and then go to the next page and tick on another one it doesn’t bring the one from the previous page to the merging selection page.
