    by default the geo homepage shows the places categories listing underneath the world map. How DO I change this to feature a different category instead of places

    Yes that is not the issue. The issue is what I stated above. On the Geo directory hompage (found here http://fiercesociety.com/gd-home/ ) when you scroll down past the map it is showing “Popular Places”. That is not what I want it to display. Instead, I want it to display the makeupartists listed in the makeup artist category not popular places

    ok, that’s a widget and you just need to change its settings via Appearance > Widgets > GD Home content section > GD > Popular post view.

    Just change the CPT that you want to display.
