Hi,
I have over 43,000 business listings on my site and now whenever a user tries to upload a listing via the front end, it takes about 10 minutes to upload (after the preview listing page).
If a user decides to leave the website during the upload, it maxes out the server (see attached).
I realised that if I disable the Location Manager plugin then a user is able to upload a business listing straight away with no problems at all (ensuring the listing is within the default location).
Please can someone let me know of anyway to fix this as I am very close to losing my client who I have put this together for.
Kind Regards,
The_Decanus

navigating the website is pretty fast, so if the slowness is only visible when submitting a listing and only with the Location Manager installed, there must be a bottleneck somewhere.
If you provide FTP credentials and phpmyadmin/cpanel credentials we will follow up and let you know.
Developers are all already off though, so they’ll most likely reply after the week end.
Let us know,
Thanks

August 14, 2017 at 3:45 pm #391130Hi Dean,
Just from reading the topic, and you having 43k+ listings and only a shared server, this would be my guess of where the problem is. Wen you add a listing it has to rebuild the listing counts for each category/location, with so many listings my guess is that is where the problem is.
Where are u based and whats ur budget, maybe we can recommend a hosting solution.
Thanks,
Stiofan

Thanks for your reply.
I was expecting something along the lines of server issues however I was hoping it might be a memory leak that could be fixed with ease 🙁 – I thought it might not be the servers because when I installed the Location Manager plugin on a fresh, test site with no data on – I tried to upload 1,000 listings and it was slow. Would the servers still be an issue there?
The budget is up to the client however I’ve been shopping around and came across some 250GB SSD servers here: https://brixly.uk/fast-ssd-vps-servers/

I mean it is only when I have the Location Manager plugin installed and I have tried it on different servers, brand new websites etc and it still breaks the site even if I upload one or two listings within the import section.
Then of course uploading a business listing from the front end is breaking the site as well and it is only when I have the location manager installed. :/

I actually added a setting to prevent the auto update term counts, and it then seemed to add listings ok but this means you would need to manually run the GD Tools>Location category counts but i think even this failed so it’s your hosting that is limiting things.
If i were you i would look at that server i mentioned, you could have many site like yours on that or also many other clients.
Thanks,
Stiofan
