    Hello,

I am wondering if it’s possible to add a specific icon to all of the listings on a specific map.

Here’s what I’m trying to do: I’m setting up a listing directory where veterinarians have specialties in dog behavior, cat behavior, etc. The custom marker that shows up on the listings map is what their primary category is listed as – so it shows a dog icon, cat icon etc. However, many members have multiple categories.

So, when a user clicks on the category from the popular posts category widget, I am showing a copy of the listing map at the top of the page with that category only.

    Here’s the shortcode I’m using for the “category top description”: [gd_listing_map width=100% height=400 scrollwheel=false zoom=3 category=”102″]

However, when the map returns the results for the category “dog specialists”, if a members primary category is listed as “cat specialists” but they are also in the category “dog specialists” their icon is a cat. Is there any way to show only one marker/icon on a map? In this case, it would make all of the icons on the dog specialists page the icon default for dog specialists?

The attached photo is of the result from the “dog specialist” category page, using the shortcode above.

    Thanks,

    Josh

    Hi Josh,

Sorry, I’m not really sure if I’m getting this. I’d like you to know that everytime you select a category for a listing, you have the ability to set the default category as shown in the attached screenshot . Is that what you’re looking for?

    Thanks!

    Hello!

The icon shown on the map will always be the default category, and there is no easy way to change that.

I was thinking about this, that maybe each business could have a listing for each of their specialties, where the default category for each of these sub-listings is the category to show on the map. To try that you could use the Franchise Manager Addon. If you set it up and ‘don’t lock’ the category, then your customers can add a ‘franchise’ for each of their specialties.

Let us know if you have any questions while trying that out
