Featured Listing Algorithm

On the listings page, I was wondering how featured listings appear if there is more than one featured listing in the same location ? Which listing will be first, second, third, etc.. ? Is it random ? Does the order depend on the date featured listing was purchased or activated ?

Also given the same scenario as above, with more than one featured listing in a location, if I used [gd_popular_post_view] with show_featured_only=”true” and add_location_filter=”true”, what is the algorithm to determine which listing appears ? There maybe 20 featured listings paid for but only room for 5 featured listings in the display area.
