Is it possible to enable searching within the distance of a specified city exactly as can be done with near me?
i.e with near me, i can set a distance from me to search for things
i would like to be able to enter a city in the near field and also use the distance selection bar activated from the compass icon
March 1, 2018 at 11:48 pm #419941Hi Joanna,
That’s how the “near” field works. Check out this article https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#near . Am I misunderstanding your question?
Thanks!

as explained at the link Kor sent, ‘near me’ will return results from the ‘center’ of the location selected from the dropdown, using either the radius set by the user or the default radius.
Please send over the URL of a listing detail page, and then the URL of a search where you think the listing should be shown and we can see if there is a bug.
You can also include site details in case you would like us to look at the settings:

Please review this page for more details about how the search fields work: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#near
The search for ‘diesel’ returns no results either 1) because the word ‘diesel’ is not in the title or description or 2) the post types select drop down is not set to a post type that includes any posts that include the search term in the title or description.

March 5, 2018 at 10:00 pm #420428Would be be possible for it to search for any custom fields generated for a cpt?
If the free text search field only searches for words in either the title or description then each custom field option i have created for things to be found by (that do work with the advanced search tick box and drop down list options) will also need to be entered into the title or description so that those listings with specific options chosen to be found using the free text search.
people will use both methods to search by.
March 6, 2018 at 8:26 am #420472That is correct, custom fields can only be searched with advanced search filters.
The search for field search looks into title, description, category and tags.

when I type in ‘diesel’ i get 2 results, and one is the expected result.
March 7, 2018 at 10:29 am #420635The problem is when i search near to a city using the scroll bar. That doesn’t work/generate results as it should.
March 7, 2018 at 11:41 pm #420700Did you click the checkbox to enable the near me results?
