    Hello,

Looking for some insight/guidance. Is it possible (with modification), to utilize the exact same google autosuggest input field that is used in the “add a listing” in the Search Near field? My users often times need to find hotels within a proximity radius of the productions they are working on. Most of the time, they would search based on an address on the city block that they have licensed or based on a random address of that the film commission provides them for tax purposes. This address is almost always a legal address on a street within the licensed film area.

If my users could select an autosuggested address based on the text that they are inputing that is then used as the search near POI, that would make my directory super valuable.

    Thanks for any insight.

    Best,

    Bryan

    Hello,

Have you already enabled the ‘Near autcompleter”?

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/search-filters-overview/#near

About Google, that is an interesting idea, but at this time it is not possible.

I do have the near autocompleter enabled but it rarely triggers autocompletion because I have been testing it against addresses and well known POI’s (i.e. Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, etc..). It does it’s job when searching near these locations but the user experience is far from ideal. The user is left trying to figure out if the system really did grab the correct address of the building, etc..

Would love to dialog more about the possibility of my idea above. What are the limitations that make it not possible? Is it something I could hire out and pay to develop? If so, is it something that you guys would be interested in teaming up on so you could offer it as an official option? I have quite a bit of funding and would take a serious look at funding this type of development feature.

There are several autocompleters, and the “Near Autocompleter” is the one that helps users find a location page. Members often create links leading directly to location pages, too. In either case, having a ‘list of locations’ is needed first.

to utilize the exact same google autosuggest input field that is used in the “add a listing”

This would not use a list of predefined locations, and would seem to workaround most of the GD Location functionality. It is not possible for us to carry out that kind of customization here in support, but the developers have been alerted to the idea and will consider it for future versions.

Anything is possible with code, and GD Experts are to be found here: https://geodirectoryexperts.com/

We will be taking a look at additional improvements once GDV2 is out: https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-final-roadmap/
