Currently we don’t have any ability to add meta description info for company category and location.
We can add meta description to the category pages. But we want to be more specific i.e.
Category : Bridal Boutiques
Location: AvonSee this page: http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/avon
In http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-services/bridal-boutiques
you can “edit category ”
then see in edit page; http://dchtest.co.uk/wp-admin/term.php?taxonomy=gd_placecategory&tag_ID=17103&post_type=gd_placeSee screenshot.
This is good – but what about the company part. We need combination.
Have a look in Yoast also. But i think again only category meta allowed there.
CLIENT has described what I have written about in their own way below..

Directory Meta Descriptions – how can we add meta description/title templates to each of the directory sections? Is it possible to add them using the Geodirectory variables? i.e…
Search our directory to find %%category%% %%in_location%%. Listings include information about the services offered, image galleries and special offers.
We would need to be able to add meta data for all directory categories, and then all areas within that category…
At the moment you said that the pages which show a category in a location/area e.g. http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/avon were generated from a query so are not actually physical pages. This is obviously really bad for SEO as it means these pages won’t be added to any sitemaps, won’t have any Meta data etc. Please can you see if there’s a solution to this.
http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-services/bridal-boutiques – Can add Meta Data (although variables don’t seem to work)
http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/avon – Can’t add anything
March 30, 2018 at 3:12 pm #424200Hello,
There are several ways to add title/meta information through GD.
Are you having a problem with the options at: GD – Titles and Metas?
The pages generated by GD show in sitemaps generated by Yoast. Are you using Yoast?
You can also add location meta information at: GD – Multilocations – Manage Locations – Edit (meta info is down at the bottom)
On your directory, is the company the listing title? You can see the list of available slugs there in GD – Titles and Metas.
April 2, 2018 at 9:10 am #424532Hi Alex
Thanks sooo much for your reply.
I tried what you said and added in the meta description the word “Avon”
But now when I try some online checks I can’t see the word “Avon” anywhere.
See this page: http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/avon
It has a category of “Bridal Boutiques” and a location of “Avon”
I checked here: http://www.exadium.com/tools/metadata/AnalyseMetaForm
See my screenshot. The keyword for category only seems to appear for me. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better online checker somewhere which will identify the location?
Thanks so much for your help again!

April 2, 2018 at 5:20 pm #424613Hello,
please take a look here for the detailed overview:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-core-plugin-titles-metas/This topic ay provide some background information also
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/title-tag-not-showing-location/April 2, 2018 at 6:35 pm #424625Hello again
I tried that but can’t see it working.
I don’t want it to work as a widget but more in the actual meta description of a listing / company page.
I added like: %%location_single%% %%location_region%%
See attached.
Then i went to this tool to check if it had worked…
April 4, 2018 at 2:05 pm #424944Hello,
that is not a location page. It does not appear that you have locations in your URL.
Location meta information shows on location pages which are displayed at a URL like:
mysite.com/my-cpt-type/mycountry/mystate/mycity/category/listing-title
on this your category page there is meta:
/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/
<meta name="description" content="Companies " /><meta name="keywords" content="bridal boutiques" />
April 9, 2018 at 5:18 pm #425610Hi
Im still stuck…
We need to setup meta description for the search results page.
This search results page should include the following meta info:
1) Category
2) LocationOur old website is: http://www.theweddingcommunity.com/Wedding-Directory/Wedding-Cakes/Avon See meta there shows both “Wedding Cakes” and also “Avon”(a location in the UK).
The new site , built in GeoDirectory is at: http://dchtest.co.uk/wedding-directory-search/bridal-boutiques/avon but no meta there at the moment.
Where can we do this?
