I don’t want to offer a free listing.
I want to add quality listings in that they have professional pictures, videos, etc… that I produced or my affiliate.
After I create the listing I want the business to claim the listing and be forced to upgrade. How do I initially create the listings? Right now I just have been creating them and then when it’s time to pay I just back out, go into the backend and publish the listing. Is there a way to maybe use a code that is only valid for free listings so that creators can create a listing with that code for free and going into the backend to publish is not required? In this case I would want the listings that I create published right away.
April 9, 2018 at 12:19 pm #425584Nevermind, I figured it out! Under invoicing I created a “Free” option. Although I’m not seeing “claim listing” anywhere… https://veganlinked.com/food/united-states/north-carolina/charlotte/ma-ma-wok/
April 10, 2018 at 10:55 am #425745Hello Jeff,
Is there still an issue we can help with?
April 10, 2018 at 11:29 am #425754Hey, thanks for following up. I just migrated over to a new server. Yesterday I was tough, really bad all day long I was having problems adding listings and trying things. I’ve been up all night migrating over to a new VPS and I’m very happy to say my site is somewhere great finally. So, now I have to get some sleep and I’ll be very excited to get back on the ball with this. I’m really excited now that my site is actually working at a bearable speed. Now I just have to see how it works throughout the day, after I get some sleep… 🙂
April 11, 2018 at 4:53 am #425920Ok, so I added a listing just now, a basic one, I didn’t claim the listing, I logged out, but I don’t see anything saying “claim listing” on any of the listings that aren’t claimed, which is pretty much all my listings… How do I make it show “claim listing” on the listing? I think I have everything setup right
April 11, 2018 at 1:12 pm #425990The text link in some themes says “Business Owner” in the sidebar, or “Claim” when using Supreme
It shows up for logged in users on unclaimed listings.
It looks like you have added some Custom CSS to hide that element. Try removing your custom CSS to identify which rule is having that effect.
You can see an example here:
April 12, 2018 at 2:42 am #426155Guust gave me CSS to hide the “Author” because I thought it didn’t make sense/look right to show the author there. I didn’t know this would remove the “Claim Listing”. I understand the logic there, show a picture on the header of who made the listing. But, I don’t necessarily agree that it is good.
Because this is a new directory and I want to populate it with quality content I’m creating the listings right now. So, I didn’t really want my profile picture on all the listings. However, I guess I could think about it differently and think maybe it’s not so bad. Eventually I would like affiliates to add listings too and I may not want their profile picture there. But, until adding a profile image is easy this just sucks…
People most likely will never know how to add a profile picture to their “user”. It took time for me to figure a way out for sure and that was using Gravatar which I doubt anyone will be using really. There isn’t a way to add a profile picture via the front end that I am aware of. So, unless there’s an “if than statement” for hiding the profile picture if there isn’t one so it doesn’t look like the site you just shared with some generic silhouette of head and shoulders for every image I really don’t want a profile picture and I would imagine none of your customers would either.
April 12, 2018 at 2:43 am #426156So, is there CSS that can hide the profile picture both on computer and mobile and not hide the claim listing button?

April 13, 2018 at 5:20 am #426376look in the author section of this page for CSS for hiding the author image:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/detail-page/The CSS is:
.sd .sd-detail-author {display: none;}This hides the author AND the “claim listing” and “edit” button. 🙁
April 13, 2018 at 11:47 am #426416.sd-detail-author .author-avatar {display: none !important;}

April 13, 2018 at 1:28 pm #426439THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
As for hiring someone, I’m in the process of finding someone. In the meantime I’m not asking you guys to do things that are what I consider customization’s for my specific needs. I am asking for things that I imagine are obviously going to make your product better. I imagine that no one would want this avatar in their theme. It’s useless and make your product not look as good. There are some things that I understand would/should be something I pay someone to do and I don’t mind that. But, there’s some things that GD could also could benefit in cleaning up. You, or whoever takes ownership of GD, should appreciate this. I’m basically acting as a beta tester, only I paid you for this instead of you paying me for this.
Clearly using an avatar is not something a typical directory is going to be able to do well. Maybe a forum that has more “user” features. But, not a standard directory. So, you would benefit from having this CSS readily available for someone using Supreme Theme.
