I am new to GeoDirectory and need a little guidance. I install the core plugin and the multi-location Addon. In an attempt to get up to speed, I entered six places split between two categories. Five places were entered using the administration dashboard. I entered the sixth place while logged in at the front end. To this point, everything work properly. Upon attempting to enter a seventh place from the front end, I was presented with a complex paragraph-long error message that I failed to save.

Next, I logged in as administrator and tried to edit and save the pending entry that gave me the error message. This would not work. The system would not save any edit that I made as administrator nor recognize any changes I attempted to make. I logged out thinking I would address the problem later. Things went from bad to worse.

The next time I attempted to login as administrator, WordPress would not accept my password nor would it allow me to reset my password. After fighting this for a while, I contacted my hosting provider, and a technician there attempted to assess the problem. She could not login to WordPress using my credentials or with their proprietary credentials. She said that she suspected corruption in a database. The problem was kicked up to a higher-level technician. I was told that I would receive an email after the problem was fixed.

I did not receive an email from them, but this morning I can log into WordPress. However, since I have zero information about what could have caused this problem, I am afraid to attempt to add places to the database. Before I attempt further entries, I need a reading from GeoDirectory.
Do you have any idea what could have cause this?

Do you think it would be safe to continue entering places? (I do not want any more downtime)
Note: the only thing that I did that might have caused this is to change the name of the home page from GD Home to just Home. The unfortunate thing about GD Home is that GD is a common abbreviation for “goddamn” and I want to have the home page listed on my menu. I made this change between the entries that went properly and the one that failed. Could this name change have caused the problem?

I would really appreciate the help. Thanks, Robert

Hi Robert, the name change shouldn’t be a problem.
Without knowing your server and hosting specifications, and other plugins you have, it’s very difficult to comment.

Try taking notice of what’s triggering any errors, and if you have any more issues, then please post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply and we will have a look at your settings.

    Thanks
