Hi Alex / Stiofan / Pablo

I was wondering if it’s a good idea to add rel=”nofollow” tag for ALL outgoing website links from the directory listings detail pages ( [gd_post_meta key=”website” show=”icon-value” alignment=”left”] ) so that google bot is not following these links and I don’t “loose page rank”. Because I have a lot more outgoing links than incoming.

What is your opinion on that? As I understand it’s not good if I do it only for free listings (https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/make-listing-weblink-nofollow-free-follow-paid/ ). But if I add nofollow to all listings website links, will this be good or bad for my google ranking? If good, how can I do this?

    Thanks a lot,
    Marc

    HI Marc,

all URL custom fields have the nofollow tag. If you want to nofollow links in description please see:

https://www.isitwp.com/nofollow-external-links-only-the_content-and-the_excerpt/ (better to add the snippet in snippets plugin than functions.php of your theme)

For badges in case you are using them as links, we’ll add the nofollow tag in the next version.

    Thanks
