Hello,
I’m trying to figure out how to translate some strings regarding GeoDirectory Search. I have installed the GeoDirectory Multi Language plugin (Github) and use WPML for translation.
1. I was able to change the translation for the breadcrumb title. But it contains a colon, which I cannot get rid of. „Suchergebnisse für: ,in der…“ The colon before the „in“ should not be displayed.
2. How can I hide the „Page 0“ in the breadcrumb?
3. The browser title is a mixture of two languages, and even if I did a translation of the string in WPML, the translation does not show up. What is also odd is the fact that WPML collects and displays all the search terms which I have entered while testing and displays them as translatable strings.

Then the simplest would be just to use GD > Settings > Titles and Meta > Search page > Title.I’ll get Kiran to have a closer look for your other questions.
Thanks
February 4, 2019 at 1:47 pm #466936Thanks for your reply, Guust. And yes, I only need a German site. I will give the „Title and Meta“ approach a try, but the problem of the WPML database getting cluttered by the search terms would still remain, wouldn’t it?
February 4, 2019 at 1:52 pm #466940There is no need to use WPML unless you want to build a site in more than one language.
See https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translate-core/ and https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/Thanks
February 4, 2019 at 2:02 pm #466945The reason for using WPML is that I have so many plugins installed that need translation. I’ve always struggled with Loco Translate, because I lost my GeoDirectory translations every time after an update of your plugins (maybe I configured Loco the wrong way, but I got frustrated over the time). The KLEO theme translation keeps me struggling, too. And I also wanted to translate the BuddyPress slugs/permalinks into German, but I must admit that I am currently not able to achieve that with WPML.

Please provide FTP credentials as well so we can do some debugging.

have you been able to do the debugging yet? I’m thinking about following the PoEdit route as Guust suggested, although I still have to find a way to translate the BuddyPress URLs.
If WPML won’t let me, I will either disable it, or even delete it completely. But I don’t want to interfere with your debugging session. Maybe you could leave me a brief note. I can easily wait for a few more days.

When search submitted without keyword it shows blank searched query part. you can use (“) double quote to customize this.
You can do it by one of following:
– Wrap %%search_term%% by double quote “(ex: “%%search_term%%”) from GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Title & Meta.
– Wrap %%search_term%% by double quote “(ex: “%%search_term%%”) from WPML translation for those title/meta strings.
After doing one of above, when blank keyword searched it will show like Suchergebnisse für: “”,in der…2. How can I hide the „Page 0“ in the breadcrumb?
I think that part coming from Kleo theme. Do you have any customization for GeoDirectory or for breadcrumbs?
3. The browser title is a mixture of two languages, and even if I did a translation of the string in WPML, the translation does not show up. What is also odd is the fact that WPML collects and displays all the search terms which I have entered while testing and displays them as translatable strings.
If you want to load your site in multilingual then leave blank all strings from “GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Title & Meta” and translate those strings from WPML > String Translation.
If you want to load your site in single language then use direct translated string at “GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Title & Meta”.
Follow any one of this and let us know how it goes. Thanks,
KiranFebruary 6, 2019 at 8:31 am #467373Thank you for your reply Kiran!
1. My request was misleading. Sorry to have used the wrong term – it’s comma, not colon. I would like to add/remove space before and after it in the page title and breadcrumb and could not figure out how to achieve this at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Title & Meta. I would also like to get rid of the term „Near“, in the page title, because it is followed by my translation of this term. Please note the attached screenshot.
2. I will ask the KLEO developers about the Page 0 in the breadcrumb, but as far as I remember Page 0 wasn’t displayed while using GeoDirectory V1.
3. I am going to deactivate or remove WPML and see if the page title still displays the term „Near“

MartinFebruary 6, 2019 at 8:52 am #467376Hello,
1. Do one thing save blank values for all title/meta under GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Title & Meta. Translate it via WPML String Translation. Ex: Translate
%%pt_plural%% search results for %%search_term%%, Near %%search_near%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
to
%%pt_plural%% Suchergebnisse für: %%search_term%%, in der Nähe von %%search_near%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
2. Let us know what you got from KLEO developers. In GeoDirectory v1 we had our own breadcrumbs, but now in v2 we are using WordPress global breadcrumb if theme or any 3rd party plugin provides.
Let us know.
Kiran
