Hi, I’m trying to make the ‘Home Page Map’ default to U.S. only and zoom it to the center. But whenever I use a higher zoom I end up with blue ocean only. I cannot find any option in the doc to set it right.
Plus, we have a free category and a premium category and we are trying to show only the premium category on the Home Map. Cannot find anything in the docs to do it. We have a over 5000 entries and most of that’s free. But when they’re all loading up, it’s really slowing down the page. Is there any way to keep the ‘free’ category out? What happens if I delete the ‘free’ category and keep only the premium category? Will the map work properly. I’d really appreciate
the help … I’m including the admin access below …February 17, 2019 at 11:41 pm #469581This reply has been marked as private.February 18, 2019 at 12:43 am #469586Maps in GDV1 always automatically center on the calculated center of all listings displayed on the map.
In GDV2 you can center a directory or archive map on a specific location from your database of locations.
In GDV1 you can ‘untick’ categories from the Home map in the settings at:
GD – Design – Map – Untick from home page map.If you want to hide certain categories from the map completely, scroll those settings down to the bottom and select the CPT or categories to hide.
February 18, 2019 at 12:59 am #469592Hi, if I could make the following link the homepage, that could somewhat resolve the issue:
http://staging-innkeeper.devhtmlfive.com/location/united-states/
Is this possible? Currently, the page named ‘Start Your Search Here’ is set at the static home page. But when I try to open it, it’s just an empty page with default template. Can you plz point me in the right direction at least? Thanx in advance.
February 18, 2019 at 1:02 am #469593There is a setting in the location manager to redirect to the default location, but it is not possible to set a country as a default location.
Upgrading to GDV2 and setting up a custom directory map on your custom front page is going to be a better long term solution.
February 18, 2019 at 3:39 am #469600Here you go, when I go to visit, /location/united-states/ the map looks like the following 2 attached images at 4 and 5 zoom level. Plz tell me how I can center the us map …
February 18, 2019 at 3:44 am #469603Also the map is not responsive. For the smaller screens we just get the blue ocean, no map. Any suggestions? Plz see attachment …
February 18, 2019 at 3:59 am #469607Are you using auto-zoom on the map now?
Even the United States map will not center on Lebanon (center of contiguous) when Hawaii and Alaska are included,a s you show.
You could try this snippet:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/default-map-center-on-home-page-with-multi-location/#post-456996February 18, 2019 at 4:56 am #469616when I’m using /location/united-states/ — this location, is there a way to exclude Hawaii and Alaska?
February 18, 2019 at 4:57 am #469617There is not a way to exclude specific locations from the map.
February 18, 2019 at 5:14 am #469622I’m trying to use that snippet you provided as a last resort, but I’m not sure how to find the canvas name, as it mentioned in the snippet comment:
“…// Replace MAP_CANVAS_NAME to respective canvas name used. Ex: geodir_map_v3_home_map”
