Hierarchical field for post type

    Dear WpGeoDirectory,

    What’s the best way to achieve hierarchical attributes for a listing?
    For example, I need to publish a listing for a car with the following attributes:
    Brand: AUDI
    Model: A4
    In the publish form, the “Model” select box should be populated dynamically based on the “Brand” selected.
    Two levels of hierarchical could be enough, but unlimited levels would be better ( Brand: AUDI, Model: A4, Version: ALLROAD Quattro )
    Can’t use categories for Brand/Model because It’ll allows a listing to be at same time an AUDI and a BMW.

    Hi Zedus,

    Thanks for your post. You can possibly try setting your custom fields as “Required”. For example, it is required that you select an item for model and brand before you can submit the listing. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#custom

    Hi Kor and thanks for your reply.

    I’m not understanding your suggestion, that prevent the form from being submitted without the required fields being compiled.

    What I looking for, are 2 different dropdown select fields where the options of the second field are related to the selected option of the first field. Similar to when you choose country and region, i.e.: you can’t see the regions of USA if you choose Canada as Country

    Hello,

    GD does not currently feature a dependent drop-down field.

    Some members have chosen to use a CPT and category instead, both of which can be placed in the search bar.

    For example:

    CPT – Audi
    – Category – Model#

    CPT stands for custom post type? If so, creating a CPT for each Brand will become soon not sustainable.
    It’s a pity because I can see tons of different use cases for this feature, and cannot find any plugin that suit this need.

    Please consider develop this feature in near future, I’m willing to write specifications or do some testing if needed! 🙂
