Drop down and multiple select questions

I want to elevate some of my clients by having them be able to post their participation in one of two (or both) events. I thought the best way to do this was to have them add that when creating their page. I tried to add a multiple select box for them to add the appropriate activities but couldn’t figure out how I actually add the selections to the drop down box. Please help.
