Hi, I am using pricing manager along with WP invoicing in my dev site (not yet launched). I have set up both free and paid packages for various CPTs
However, I have not yet integrated any payment gateway – I plan to use the PayU addon in WPinvoicing but want to do that later after launch in order to prioritise other task before launch, since i will anyway be offering a free trial period (set up in package free trial period) of 1-2 months, during which time i will integrate & test the payment gateway. Have some queries in this:
1. Is there any issue anticipated in deferring the payment gateway integration- eg are the future recurring payments are triggered and queued up all at the beginning, and so if the payment gateway is not there to start with then they will be lost? Or if they are triggered at every renewal period then if the PG is there before the end of the renewal period, then payments will go thru properly for the renewal?
2. I have a monthly paid package with one month lifetime, on which i plan to give a 1 month free trial period. So i can expect that at the end of the first renewal period (ie after one month), we will trigger a payment to the payment gateway for the 2nd month renewal
3. The “Downgrade to” setting only shows the “Expire” option – it is not showing/allowing me to select the free package upon expiry of the paid package?
4. If i have a recurring paid package, and the client does not want to renew it, but wants to downgrade to a free package with the same listing, how can they do that? Do they need to delete the lsiting and create a new one with the free package?
5. If client wants to cancel a listing in the middle of a renewal period, say if current monhtly term is running from June 1 – 30, and they want to cancel on June 15, then how can they do that, adn what will be the effect?I know this is a rather long query but will really appreciate your response and i hope these will help other users also to understand the functionality better
thanks, Vivek
June 24, 2019 at 4:37 pm #4945091. You will want to setup the gateway integration before you start selling subscriptions. Once a subscription is in force then it cannot be changed on the gateway, usually.
2. You can do that with a discount using WP Invoicing for the first payment in a 12 payment plan, for example.
3. Make sure the free package is active, you can only select an active package.
4. They would use the Downgrade option.
5. If they downgrade it will take effect immediately. If they delete it then it is deleted immediately.June 24, 2019 at 5:13 pm #494531Thanks very much, Alex. Referring to the points in the earlier message:
1. So if PG change may be an issue, then if a subscription is in force and i change the price for the package, then will not future renewals go at the new price? Is there any housekeeping / deletion or replacement of queue to be done in such a case?
2. I was planning to use the ‘free trial period’in the package itself, for one month – will that not work? The discount in the WP invoice requires a coupon code, so i want to avoid taht if possible. Is there any issue in using the free trial period?
3. Yes the free package is active yet it is not showing- will share the link and credentials in teh next post
Thanks!

2. No
3. Not sure why it is not showing, it should. The developers will take a look.June 25, 2019 at 2:04 pm #494749Hello,
3. The “Downgrade to” setting only shows the “Expire” option – it is not showing/allowing me to select the free package upon expiry of the paid package?
Recurring packages are not allowed in “Downgrade to” list. Recurring package can be assigned to listing via add listing > checkout process only, because recurring listing status handled via payment gateway subscription based notifications.

June 25, 2019 at 3:41 pm #494774Thanks very much – Alex and Kiran.
I need to stop asking double questions, because then Alex’s succinct replies are further confusing 🙂 – so here goes:
1. If i change the pricing of a package at any time then will renewals automatically go at the new price?
1a. If renewal will not go at the new price, then what needs to be done to make new price effective?
2. Will the ‘free trial period’ setting in package work if i want to give only one month free in a packages with 1 month, or 3 months or annual lifetimes?
3. Kiran- understood about the downgrade only to non-recurring packages. However, you have mentioned that recurring package can only be assigned to a listing via add listing, i suppose recurring can also be assigned via claim listing- pls confirm.
thanks, Vivek
June 25, 2019 at 4:27 pm #4947991. No
2. The user must sign up again to the changed/updated package
3. Confirm yes, but it is the checkout process that hands the recurring subscription settings off to the gateway. -
