    Hi,

I’m trying to import a set of listings into a new dev website however am having issues. I exported a set of listings of post_type “gd_accommodation” and cleaned up the csv file using Libre Calc. However when I try to import it to the new site, it states that there are more rows than there actually are and all (except for 1 row) fail to import. Also, when I try opening it with Excel, the rows are out of whack.

I’ve attached the file .csv here. Note that in Libre Calc if you set the String Delimeter to ‘ and select ‘comma’ everything looks fine … not sure what’s going wrong here. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your post. Could you please zip your csv file and reattach it here on your next reply? Also, share your Website WP admin access here in private reply and we’ll check what’s going on.

We’ve actually resolved that issue, but we’ve found another. When we import the listings, we’ve found a series of random characters inserted into the text such as: ‚Äô.

    See the listing here: https://www.simplfi-mockups.com.au/accommodation/abode-hotel-narrabundah/.

Any reason why this is happening?

I’ve attached a spreadsheet showing an example of two listings with the original Geodirectory data vs what it looks like once converted over. (Highlighted in red are the random characters that appear)

Both original .CSV files also attached.

Bad HTML will break the export format. Once you see which listings are causing the break update the HTML and you shouldn’t have that problem.

You can always copy/paste to a service like https://validator.w3.org/
