Below is something I posted over at Listimia, thinking this was a theme issue, but their response was that this was outside their area and at the plugin level…can you confirm? Am I missing something?

    Listimia support request>

Not sure if I’m missing something or this isn’t possible….yet.

I see that a header image can be set and that it can be randomized across multiples images, but can different images be used across different site sections?

For example, Restaurant section would have a custom header image that would appear on the CPT Archive page, which would be different than the header image used for the Bars section, Shopping section, etc.?

This CPT header image could ideally be different (if desired) than the default image set for the CPT for posts that do not feature an image.

It looks like different Archive and Archive Detail templates could be created and assigned to different CPT’s, but within the templates, I still didn’t see any way to set a specific image for that…setting a feature image at least didn’t appear to change anything.

If this isn’t possible yet, then I hope that it could be added to the roadmap as I see this being a potentially high demand feature. Ideally I’d like to have specific images for the different CPT sections and city locations.

    Cheers

GD Post Images has support for display of fallback images with a shortcode like this:

    [gd_post_images type="slider" ajax_load="1" slideshow="1" show_title="1" animation="slide" controlnav="1" fallback_types="cat_default,cpt_default"]

Try it out and let us know what you think, or use the shortcode builder to make your own.

You would need to work with the theme options to set a theme specific image.

I am telling you which GD feature is closest.
