Popular posts view widget using events post type- excerpt type issue

Hi there just wondering if you can help.

When using the ‘popular posts view’ widget and using ‘events’ as a post type this is showing me a grid list of the ‘events’ images fine, however, the excerpts showing below each image is an excerpt for the linked business, not the event itself?

i.e. -The linked business description shows as an excerpt, not the event description?

Is there any reason as to why this is? and is there any way to change this so the event description shows when using ‘event’ as the post type?
